A benzoyl peroxide wash is a way to get the acne-fighting effect of benzoyl peroxide with less irritation than a leave-on gel. This is called short-contact therapy.
It is especially useful for chest, back and shoulder acne, where spreading a gel over a large area is awkward.
How to use it:
- Lather onto wet skin and leave it on for 1–2 minutes before rinsing. A quick splash-and-rinse does much less.
- Start once a day, then go up to twice a day if your skin is comfortable.
- Rinse thoroughly and use white towels, as benzoyl peroxide bleaches fabric.
- Moisturise afterwards.
